Pre-class Assignment
1. Study Lesson 4 of BB before the class. Students should study the lesson by themselves before the class. The teacher  can check the students' preparation by conducting dictation or asking  comprehension questions about the lesson. The teacher can also encourage  students to make sentences with the new words and sentence patterns, and ask one  student to read aloud the sentence(s) as a dictation exercise for the rest of the class.
2. Listen to the recordings for Lesson 4 of BB.

During-Class Activities
1. Q&A about the text, if you have any.
2. Teacher-led pattern drills with the new words and sentence patterns of the lesson. We will start with practice at the sentence  level and then move to paragraph level.
3. Ask students to take turns talking about her/his job: what they do, the nature of  the job and the advantages and disadvantages of this job. This report can be real or  hypothetical. This exercise requires the students to prepare well before coming to  the class.
4. When the student is done with the report, other people of the class can ask  questions and continue to talk about the advantages and disadvantages of  the job.  The teacher will encourage students to use the new words and structures from  the lesson and should keep bringing up interesting topics for discussion.

Post-class Assignments
1. Do Exercises 1-3 of BB Lesson 4 and turn them in by the end of Tue.

2. Pair-work: discussion on the questions at the end of Lesson 4 of BB.
3. Prepare to discuss your favorite occupation/profession.

3. Discussion and wrap up of Lesson 4 of BB. 3. Continue to take turns talking about her/his job: what they do, the nature of  the job and the advantages and disadvantages of this job. This report can be real or  hypothetical. This exercise requires the students to prepare well before coming to  the class.

3. TA session begins Thur. Introducing yourself to Guo Laoshi, welcome her and ask her about what she does in China and ask about what occupations/professions are most popular among college graduates.

3. Since you know how to talk about professions/occupations etc. It is time to add a paragraph to you zi4zhuan4 telling us what you plan to do professionally in the future and why you plan to do what you plan to do.
